Horrah! So it turns out I can be a mother and an artist at the same time. At the expense of some very valuable naps and with the help of my amazing husband, I squeezed in the time to finish a painting for my upcoming "Growing Up" show this fall. I've been wondering how amazing illustrators such as Rachelle Anne Miller, Gina Perry & Heather Castles, manage to take care of a baby while also keeping up with illustrating. While I'm still a far cry away from taking on any client work, I am starting to see such things in my future which absolutely thrills me.
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful! And tho it's a challenge to be a new Mom and find time for art- you will eventually be back on a roll with work. And when you do- your experience as a Mom will feed that art and do wonders!- My baby's 9 yrs old now. -It's always something- yesterday diapers- today training bras.... tomorrow- driver's ed (shudder)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Crystal! Yeah, I'm not getting much of anything done lately (except loving and caring for the babe). I had a good stretch from month 3-4 where things were 'easy', month 4-5 was tough, things are getting better each day. The biggest key is something it sounds like you've got - a supportive and loving husband!
ReplyDeleteWait til he's toddling about!!!
ReplyDeletei think it turned out beautiful!!!!!! its so sweet to see nursing illustrations too because its an intimate and big part of your life [and the babe's].... you found your art groove much faster than i did- hehe! took me 18mos with my first... but my second was a breeze :D [well, kinda- although now that they are 5 and 2.5, it's not as easy hahaha]
ReplyDeletenice to see your art again, i haven't stopped by in forever!!!!!! also thanks for the info on facebook, i might reconsider what i post there now!!!!
