Horrah! Three cheers... I've started my last painting for the Growing Up Show (a painting featuring my father). It's been very tricky trying to run my business with a newborn. Sometimes I have to work around my infant's schedule and needs - this includes things like painting with a sleeping Dexter in his Lovey Duds sling this afternoon for an hour and a half. Gosh is he getting heavy!
I have 19 days until everything is due to be hung. There are labels to edit, CV & bio to write/rewrite, almost all paintings need to be varnished and have wires attached to the back... oh and artwork to price out. I'm getting exhausted because I also rewrote the project for my illustration class and I think it's going to be very interesting (I'll post what it is once the students get their project).
nice.... am a fan of u..

So cute to see your painting with your baby wrapped so lovely close to you. Such the sweetest moment!
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
ahh, what a sweet picture!!
ReplyDeleteI've always I love your work. I just barely had a baby and was wondering how in the world do you keep a business going?
ReplyDeleteMeridth: It took over 7 weeks until I even thought of painting again (I thought, why paint when I can stare at my newborn son?). Then, slowly, I'd start taking advantage of naps. If I hadn't signed up for an artshow before I even got pregnant I probably wouldn't be painting at all. Make a goal of one painting per month in the beginning and utilize naps. I also have had help from my mother-in-law sometimes as much once a week for a couple of hours in order to get things finished. As I'm breastfeeding I still get cuddle sessions so there's a balance. I'll do a post about it soon because I wondered that myself in the beginning!
