Storytime with Mom

Second last painting to complete for the growing up show! Only 33 days until the show opens... and 34 days until I start part time teaching at Grant MacEwan College again. I'm reworking my assignment sheets for the "kids" (although sometimes they are older than me). Trying to give them the most exciting project. Something to really get into and enjoy. Did any of you have an extraordinary project when you went to college (if you are a fellow illustrator reading this blog)?

  1. Well I'm an animation student, not an illustrator, but I did have one really great assignment that you might like to hear about. It was for storyboarding. The instructor gave us a sequence of panels with directional lines he had chosen randomly and drawn on each frame. Having been instructed to VISIT a location and REFERENCE it, we were told to sketch a layout that we would then use for the boarding assignment. We could make any choices we wanted to, so long as the panels were done in the order they were given to us, and told a completed story, using our general location layout. I believe the other specifics we were given may have been that there were to be two people dining together in some sort of restaurant.
